Cardiologist Appointment

At Stella's last pediatrician appointment Dr. Jones had listened to her heart for quite some time. He was a little thoughtful and said that he was hearing something called an S2 click. Whatever that means. Anyway he referred her to a cardiologist and I had made the appointment. I was worried about being asked questions about Stella's head because it was the day after her falling incident. I was actually surprised that it didn't look more black and blue. Anyway the nurse came in and put all sorts of little emg stickers on Stella and monitored her rates. After a little bit, she said the Dr will be in shortly. She left Stella with some extra emg stickers to play with. I'm surprised how sticky those things are. The doctor came in and went over her rates and said that there was nothing to worry about. She has a slight heart murmur, but it shouldn't affect her any. I was relieved. He asked about her bump and I told him the story. He just laughed and said "Kids will be kids." haha
Her forehead doesn't look to bad phew!

Ouch!

Today was a very scary day. I had scouts today so I decided to leave Stella at Nana's house. When I got back at 6ish pm everything seemed A Okay. I was sitting in the family room when I hear this big BOOM! Then comes Stella's crying. I think to myself, "Oh she probably just fell on the floor she'll be ok." But then I hear Clark say "She's bleeding! She's bleeding!" That's when I bolted up and went into the kitchen to see what the problem was. Stella's whole face and the front of her onsie was covered in blood! Nancy was carrying her over the sink to wash her off. We both didn't know where the blood was coming from. I was so glad Nancy was there, because otherwise I would've been freaking out. Dale had a varsity meeting in the front room and Brother Porter was present and he's a doctor. Luckily he was there and he came over and tried to see where the source of the bleeding was. Turns out after Stella was cleaned up it was a small indentation across her forehead just above her nose. Brother Porter said there was nothing to worry about since it was starting to swell up. He said I would've needed to worry if it was concave. So I guess what happened was Stella was following Nana in the kitchen and some how tripped forward and hit the corner of the wall pretty hard. I'm just glad it wasn't anything worse. She'll have a nice scar to show off. Embarrassing for me lol.

White Elephant Party

Uncle Don decided to have a family white elephant gift exchange. Curtis was way excited because he knew Uncle Don would be doing funny gag gifts all around. Curtis already had his gag gift which was a Hillary Clinton halloween mask. Originally the plan was to give that as a gag gift to his dad on his birthday, but decided that this would be a good unveiling of the gift haha. The other gag gift we had was a Santa Claus doing the splits. I think his purpose is to be put in front of the door crack so a draft doesn't come in. Everyone had some pretty funny gifts. When Esther's turn came around she opened one and had a beginner's belly dancing kit lol. Curtis wanted that so bad haha, but no one wanted his incredible hulk pancho. Unfortunately my gift got taken away the next turn and I had to choose a different one. Guess what I chose....yes Curtis made me choose the belly dancing kit. It was such a fun night.
The excitement over the gift.
Then Curtis's excitement after I stole it haha

Halloween Party

All year I throw out ideas to Curtis on what we should dress up as for halloween. He never really cares and then we got invited to our friend Chase and Shalyse's halloween party and we had no idea what we were going to be. The night before is when Curtis had the bright idea that we should all dress up as indian gods and goddesses lol. I'm not sure how many people know this, but I have been mistaken for someone from India multiple times. Curtis thought it would be hilarious because Chase and many others that were at the party had made fun of me and called me indian haha. The day of the party I was running from thrift store to thrift store to find costumes for all of us. This was the result:
We ended up dressing Stella up as Buddha haha.
Curtis's costume cracked me up! He went all out.

Trunk or Treat!

So I wasn't sure what to dress Stella up as for our ward Trunk or Treat party. So I decided to use the toule skirt that I made her for Esther's wedding and I had some fairy wings that I had used a while back. She looked so adorable! But then again I'm probablybias.
I attempted pig tails on her hair.
She was like "I don't need candy, when I have a bottle in my midst."

Esther's Wedding

My sister-in-law Esther was just betrothed to Michael Grubbs. The reception was at Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse and the decorations looked awesome! Seriously my mother-in-law knows her stuff! Anyway Esther looked really happy and beautiful! We are so excited for her and her new life together with Michael. The food was done by Chef Brad and it tasted awesome!! All the yummy sweets were good too! Mmmm

Mmmm chocolate...

So I was doing something in my room and Stella was playing in the den. When I came back to check on her I found her covered in chocolate, I couldn't resist laughing. I got the camera out and she totally posed for it lol. I don't know where she found chocolate, but it never fails that she finds something to make a huge mess out of haha.
Sassy!

Spanish Class

So around the end of July on of the counselors in the Relief Society presidency pulls me aside and says "Speaking about talents....., we have a need of some of yours." It caught me so off guard I didn't know what to say haha. We talked for a bit and then it came to the light what she wanted from me. I guess there was some talk about women in the ward wanting to learn spanish, since we are combined with the Liahona 3rd (spanish speaking) ward. At first I was really excited to be able to use my spanish, but as the days grew closer to the 1st class, I grew more and more nervous. I thought to myself, "There is no way I can teach spanish to these women." But then my sweet husband said "I'm sure you'll do a good job, just look at it as a learning experiencing and grow from it." All in all it was a good class and now I know a little more on how to go about teaching these wonderful women.

Bought new couches!

So we were without any furniture in our new home for a few months, until finally today we went to Ikea and bought cute couches Yay! I love them because they have slip covers that are machine washable, which will definately come in handy with Stella haha. Anyway here are a few pics of our front room. WooHoo for furniture!

Family Reunion

Every year Grandma Jean has a family reunion up in Flagstaff at her cabin. It is seriously so much fun to get away from everything (especially the hot weather). We enjoy crafts, yummy food, lots of fun games and activities and just the great outdoors. I must say for Stella's first time she loved it! Of course when she gets a bit older and walks and stuff, she'll be able to enjoy it more. She liked crawling around and getting dirty and playing with 2nd and 3rd cousins.
Grandma Jean had a new basketball court put in for the enjoyment of everyone. Way cool! She also had new concrete countertops put in for the outside eating area and new cabinets within the cabin. It all looks amazing!
The last day that we were there we went to the Ice Caves. Curtis said he knew where to go, but we ended up getting lost and spent hours just driving trying to find it. Not fun haha. What should of taken about a couple hours for the whole trip, took like 5! Yeah I wasn't too happy, especially since we left Stella back at the cabin with Nana and Grandma Jean. I felt bad that they had to watch her the whole time. Oh well. For next time we'll plan a little bit better lol.
Stella just posing for a picture.
Smile!
Going for a nature walk. Stella loves being carried around in this thing. Best $2 investment haha.
I just love the smell of throw up in the morning.
Trying on Grandpa's hat. I must say she looks pretty cute in it. :0)
Stella with Grandma Jean, enjoying the sight of concrete getting put in for the basketball court.
Here they are dumping the concrete.
Exploring
The red neck pinata! A sweet tradition to find candy in saw dust.
Stella joined in on the fun too! Yay candy!
Just arrived at the Ice Caves.
Just at the entrance to the Ice Caves.
At the end of the Ice Caves. Yay we conquered!

California Beach House!!!

So Stella had her first official road trip!! I was pretty excited and nervous about how she was going to be on the 6hr drive. She was not much fun on the way there for the first couple of hours. We got to share this fun experience with my sister-in-law Jessica and her little ones Rhett and Roxy. Rhett was an angel on the way there and on the way back. The girls on the other hand not so much. It was like one would stop and the other would start. If I didn't know any better I would think they were tag teaming to not tire themselves out all at once. But the tiredness prevailed in their lost cause haha. I'm probably an evil mom for laughing at their drama queen cries. By the end I was thankful to arrive to our destination.
We got there Monday late afternoon about 5 and had a nice hamburger dinner on the balcony. The weather was amazing!!! Much cooler than Arizona. We went for a walk on the beach and took a couple of pictures. The ocean looked gorgeous!
On Tuesday we went to Knott's Berry Farm. It was a blast!! My cool father-in-law paid for everyone! He's awesome!! I got to on lots of rides while my sweet mother-in-law and sister-in-law watched the little ones. There was one ride that I was really afraid of called the Perilous Plunge and it took some convincing to get on. It was such a steep fall it felt like I was going to fly out. It was fun though. I'm not sure if it was worth the long wait, but I got to be refreshed with the cool water. My nephew Rhett
Stella and her uncle Ben
Esther and her fiance Michael
Perilous Plunge

Wednesday we went to the beach and spent some time there. I was shocked that Stella didn't cry at all when the cold water hit her little legs. She loved it!! :0) Her uncle Ben was carrying her. I took some cute pictures of Stella in a cute hat that Jessica let her borrow.

Thursday was a shop till you drop day. I found a cute shirt and some nice undershirts. Woohoo! For dinner we went to a place called Ruby's that was out on the pier. It was cool to walk down the pier but it was kind of spooky too! The pier looked all worn.
Stella with her aunt Essie.
Friday was the day we headed back home. We left at 7am and the kids were still kind of sleepy so they slept for the first half of the trip it was awesome!! I have to say the trip home was way better than the trip up. Yay for Stelly and her first road trip!
